ACADEMY NEWS 2015-2016

Our dream sports day

Nissan helped us to create our dream 'Olympic' Sports Day on Tuesday.  Olympic athlete Laura Weightman and Team GB legend Darren Campbell MBE made guest appearances to make the day extra special and memorable.  All of our children took part in an opening ceremony, wearing masks and carrying flags.  Then the children were allowed to redesign a 'Nissan Leaf'  by covering it in good luck messages for the Rio-bound team.  The day was brought to life with a  host of Brazilian themed musicians and performers.  It was certainly a day to remember.  We are so thankful to Nissan, Mr Burn, Mr Pigford and Mr Carter for making this event possible and to everyone who was involved.

Technology tom

Year 2 had a totally terrific time with 'Technology Tom' today making vehicles.   We learnt about forces like gravity and friction in science and did lots of great D&T work designing and making our own cars.  After we'd made our cars we tested them using ramps to investigate which car travelled the furtherest.

Superhero day - cash for kids

The children were real superheroes today raising money for the 'Cash for Kids' charity.  The school have raised almost £400 and had a great afternoon dancing to the Superman song with Steve and Karen from Metro Radio and Black Lace.  A big well done to our school council for organising this event.

FOREST SCHOOL - MRS WHITE'S CLASS (YEAR 2)

Year 2 have had another fantastic time in Forest School sketching flowers and going of a plant hunt.

Musical Extravaganza

Mrs Swirles and the children did us proud once again last night and put on another wonderful performance, however, I'm not quite sure what I can say about the staff choir.  Thank you to all those who attended and supported the event.  Tutors you are doing a fantastic job because they all sounded great!

Christmas Carol Service

We would like to thank St. Matthews church in Newbottle for once again kindly welcoming us this year for our Christmas Carol Service.  The children's voices always sound so amazing echoing around the church.

Christmas Jumper Day

We had lots of fun coming to school in our Christmas jumpers today.  We enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner and so did the teachers! Then we had an assembly about Kindness at Christmas.  The Christmas countdown has begun ...
